After five years of leadership at Ardenglen Housing Association Chair, Liz McKenzie is stepping down.
Liz has been involved on the Board in some degree for more than 20 years and will remain in the role of Vice Chair.
‘I’ve really enjoyed my time as Chair, when I first moved here I wanted to be part of the community and joining the board of my housing association seemed the ideal way to be involved in decisions that impacted on the lives of local people,’ said Liz.
‘I’ve been proud to have worked my way up to Chair of the association and be centrally involved in all the work that has been done to make things better. Making sure we are providing warm, affordable homes for people, but also being central to being more than just a housing provider, but helping to build a community.’
Ardenglen manages around 1000 homes in the Castlmilk area of south Glasgow.
‘A lot of people will say - I don’t have the skills to be a board member - but it’s not true, you get training and mentoring and everyone goes out their way to be helpful. It definitely is something you can do. And I’m a great believer in don’t complain if you’re not prepared to do something about it, and being on the board you really can have say in making a difference in your community,’ added Liz.
Ardenglen Chief Executive, David Byfield paid tribute to Liz’s service over the years, he said:
‘Liz’s enthusiasm and commitment to improving the lives of tenants has been commendable. She has worked tirelessly to support our work in making Ardenglen a better place to live and I look forward to working with her again as vice chair in the future.’
