OUR COMMUNITY COMMITTEE
An early objective for the Community Investment Team was to involve local people in the development and organisation of tenants’ events/activities.
In October 2010, the Ardenglen Social Committee (now known as Community Committee), was duly constituted. As confidence grew with each successful event, our Community Committee were well up for the challenge of running the former St. Martins Church Hall when it became available back in 2011. How hard can it be? Re-named the Maureen Cope Community Hall, it quickly became a highly valued community resource, recording more than 1000 visits each month --- not bad for a group of tenants’ who tell us they just popped in for Halloween tickets!
Together they developed a variety of community benefit programmes from IT Classes to Gardening & Cookery.
Since the hall’s closure in November 2023, the Community Committee and the Community Investment Team have been busy securing relevant funding to develop the facilities and ensure that their new HUB at 6 Ardencraig Street is accessible for all.
The continuation of community benefit programmes can be accessed from this new venue, which include IT Classes; Gardening; Upcycling Workshops; Wellbeing Groups; Financial/Energy Advice; tenant events and more. Keep an eye on our socials for What’s On!
